Promotion and development of international interactions between Iran chamber of Cooperatives (ICC) and Indian cooperatives, and Taking advantage of the joint capacities of the two countries in the cooperative sector, and also the formation of the joint working group of Iran and India were discussed in the meeting between the commercial counsellor of the Indian Embassy, and the Deputy of International Affairs of ICC and also some of the heads of the cooperative unions.
According to the ICC News Agency, in this meeting, a comprehensive introduction of the capabilities and capacities of the cooperative sector in various economic fields was introduced and explained. In this meeting, Mr.Banaeifar, the Deputy of International Affairs of ICC, described the interaction with the National Organization of Cooperatives of India (NCUI) very well and said: “We have established strong relations with the National Organization of Indian Cooperatives in various fields, and we can effectively expand and develop these relations with the cooperation of the Indian Embassy.” Mr. Banaeifar mentioned that the Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC) has 14 specialized commissions that serve as think tanks and operate in various economic fields.
The commercial counsellor of the Indian Embassy expressed his satisfaction in being part of the group of cooperative economic activists. He stated that the cooperative sector in India has potential for growth and development. Additionally, he mentioned that the Indian Embassy is actively seeking ways to support and promote cooperatives nations between Iran and India.
He also stated that one of the largest cooperatives in the dairy sector operates in India, which is considered a significant contribution to the Indian economy and has provided a suitable platform for the presence of women in the economy.
India’s commercial consultant stated that cooperatives provide support to various social networks and sectors that the government cannot help. He suggested that India could learn from Iran’s cooperative sector to strengthen their own. He added that India’s population provides Iran with opportunities to manage cooperatives, and India can benefit from Iran’s experiences in education, industry, mining, and services.
According to the commercial counsellor of the Indian Embassy, standardization, quality control, and marketing are the most significant challenges faced by cooperatives. He emphasized the importance of the marketing department and stated that the role of the Embassy and ICC is significant in this field.
During the meeting, it was proposed to form a joint working group between Iran and India. It was decided that this proposal will be examined to facilitate direct communication between producers and economic activists from both countries’ cooperative sectors.
In the end, the capabilities and capacities of cooperatives in the field of energy, including petrochemicals, oil, and downstream industries, as well as in the sectors of industry and mining, horticulture and agriculture, export and trade, were explained by the heads of the relevant commissions.
