The president of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives provided proposals at the world conference of International Cooperative Alliance in Rwanda ,for developing the cooperative movement of other countries through follow up for considering this movement as an independent economic sector , establishment and approval of the comprehensive law for this sector, furthermore creating a non-governmental organization as the representative of the cooperative movement in countries with special authorities to develop decent work.
Mr. Bahman Abdollahi, the president of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives, attended the world conference of International Cooperative Alliance, and delivered a speech with the subject of cooperative’s role in creating employment and decent work at general assembly of this conference beside other officials, such as the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Rwanda.
The president of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives mentioned about the status and trends of employment and unemployment in the world according to the World Bank’s statistics in recent years, at the beginning of his speech. He emphasized the importance of addressing the subject of employment and particularly decent work among communities, considering unemployment in the world, especially among young people.
He pointed to the position of “decent work” in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the documents of economic, social and cultural development of I.R.I , and particularly the “national document of decent work “.
Following the speech, the president of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives emphasized the cooperative sector of Iran and its development process and stated the goals of cooperative sector of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the principles of “decent work” according to matching comparison between the principles of cooperative movement and “decent work” : The work and created employment in the cooperative sector of Iran matches with the international standards of “decent work” and therefore the employment in this section is synonymous with “decent work”. Furthermore , he explained the trend of establishing employment in Iran’s cooperative sector and decent work in the country.
Mr. Abdollahi expressed the key factors in the creation of “Decent work”: the key factors in creating decent work include “governments ,workers, employers, and non-governmental organizations.”
He described the role of non-governmental organizations as a bridge between governance and society and continued: “Of course, the maximum effectiveness of NGO’s in the societies and in other words, the cooperative movement of countries is considered when NGO is unique and as a representative of cooperative movement has a special position and authority in the country’s decision-making and policy-making system due to the macro laws of the country”. He introduced “Iran Chamber of Cooperatives ” as a proper example in this issue, then he described the position of this Chamber in decision-making system and the macro policy making of the country.
The president of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives expressed the strategies and activities of ICC in order to create employment, develop and promote the decent work based on experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran to provide proposals for the development of the cooperative movement through follow up for considering this movement as an independent economic sector , establishment and approval of the comprehensive law for this sector, furthermore creating a non-governmental organization as the representative of the cooperative movement in countries with special authorities to develop decent work.
